The Naixem project takes on the challenge of rethinking the spaces where we are born through a multidisciplinary approach that brings together architecture, medicine, society, and industry to shape a new model of Birth Centres adapted to our reality.
Over more than two years of work, the project has been grounded in an in-depth analysis of the current situation, incorporating the perspectives of women’s associations and a wide range of professional profiles. Building on this knowledge, a comprehensive proposal has been developed that combines the safety requirements of a healthcare environment with the creation of welcoming and respectful spaces designed to promote the wellbeing of women and their families.
The model has been designed around three key scales: the building as a whole; the interior spaces, with particular attention to the birth room; and the postpartum rooms. It also includes the development of innovative furniture and equipment, such as an obstetric bathtub for water births.
